Divinity Co-op: Player Count and Playing Together
Divinity plans launch co-op, but the final player count remains open. This explainer distinguishes the standard party, possible mod extensions and the undecided launch timing of tools for groups of friends.
Co-op is planned for Divinity’s launch. Larian’s Technical Director Bert (u/Bert_Larian) confirms it in the 9 January 2026 AMA. The specific player count still depends on final party size.
How Party Size and Mods Connect
In the December interview, Vincke agrees that party size will be similar to BG3 without stating a final number. The later AMA also leaves the count open and describes planned mods as a way to extend it. That is separate from the standard limit in an unmodified game.
Gameplay lead Artem (u/Artem_Larian) confirms mod tools, but their availability at release is undecided. Groups therefore cannot yet rely on either a fixed standard count or a day-one mod solution.
Which Co-op Rules Remain Unknown
Crossplay, save ownership, joining later and dialogue decisions have not been fully explained. BG3’s instructions cannot serve as a Divinity manual. What is known is the intention to play a standalone adventure together. The relationship explainer covers the characters.
