Divinity’s Cinematic Reveal: Two Scenes From the Trailer

Divinity’s trailer moves from festivities to horror. Timestamps and stills identify two scenes, while Vincke’s later interview explains the contrast and the intended role of player decisions in the dark setting.

Official cinematic trailer, 00:55. The scene does not establish names, location or playable rules.

Divinity’s reveal presents a cinematic scene rather than a playable combat demonstration. Its initially festive mood turns towards violence and horror. The later developer interview helps explain that contrast: Vincke describes a dark world that players should have freedom to change.

Official cinematic trailer, 00:39. The on-screen disclaimer explicitly identifies pre-rendered footage rather than actual gameplay.

Two Scenes to Recognise

At 00:55, a masked figure holds a torch beside a large woven structure, with buildings and other people in the background. At 01:05, the video shows a short-haired figure in conversation. Neither scene displays a name, location or later role.

The stills make those moments easy to identify. They do not establish a specific quest or a playable companion. Later explanations may give the scenes more precise meaning.

Official cinematic trailer, 02:40. The visible figures have no confirmed names, quest or lore identification here.

How the Developers Explain the Tone

Vincke wants both heroic and destructive choices within the dark setting. The reveal report connects that intention with Rivellon’s premise. Relationship plans add a character-focused dimension to the adventure. The trailer provides the initial impression, while the interview separately explains the direction of its rules.
